As part of its “Vision-Airs” series and to celebrate Air Max Day, Nike teamed up with Arthur Huang, a Taiwanese architect and engineer, to create new sustainable packaging for the sneakers.
Made from recycled drink containers and lids, the lightweight clear plastic box is perfect for stacking or displaying your kicks. It also doubles as a dope backpack — just add any straps or shoelaces through the holes in the box.
The design for the box was actually inspired by Air Max sneakers. Taking the idea of the iconic air bubble, Huang turned the actual box into an air bubble to store the shoes safely.
Huang is the CEO of Miniwiz, a Taiwan and Berlin-based studio dedicated to finding sustainable uses for recycled products, all while using the smallest carbon footprint possible. In Huang’s own words, his work is all about “turning a pollution into as solution for the future.”
The packaging is made specifically for the Air Max Royal 01, which released just last week. Watch the video above and see how Huang turns our trash into something worth having.
And don’t forget to watch the video on how Huang transforms plastic waste into sustainable fashion Items.
