The Monte Carlo Whisky Festival 2016

It is no vain boast to claim that the Monte Carlo Whisky Festival has become the world’s most exclusive whisky event.

Now in its fifth year, the Festival will be opened by H.S.H. Prince Albert II at the Whisky Conference in the Oceanographic Museum, followed by an auction of the 2nd release of the “Grimaldi Collection”, the Glenrothes “Dow’s” 24 year old Speyside Single Malt Whisky introduced by Mr. Ronnie Cox, Global Brand Ambassador of the Glenrothes.

This whisky was drawn from a single cask personally selected by H.S.H. Prince Albert. The "Dow’s" will be one of the five exceptional whiskies tasted during the Conference.
The aim of the “Grimaldi Collection” is to raise 1 Million euros for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation by the year 2021.

During the Festival you can meet the experts and attend their master-classes in the dedicated Tasting Room, within the Hotel Metropole, where La Maison D’Ecosse will also be selling exclusive and rare expressions of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The program proposed in the Tasting Room has something for everyone. Master-classes, book signings, food pairings, and of course the chance to sample the Conference whiskies.

The Highlight of the festival is the annual St. Andrews Gala Banquet which this year will be held in the Yacht Club of Monaco, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert. The Gala Banquet menu is a collaboration of four award-winning chefs: designed by Chef Christian Garcia (the Prince’s Palace) and Chef David Graham (Lews Castle), inspired from the tasting notes of the Glenrothes whisky by Martine Nouet and executed by Chef Christian Plumail (Yacht Club of Monaco). Each dish will be complemented by expressions of The Glenrothes. An organoleptic experience! Among the distinguished guests will be the Right Hon. Alex Salmond MP, who has agreed to address the Haggis.

Once again, this year’s Festival has been master-minded by Anita Di Sotto of The Monte Carlo Whisky Society, “The Tartan Tornado”. If past Festivals are anything to go by, this year’s will be lively, stimulating and, above all, fun.

The Monte Carlo Whisky Society, founded in 2012, aims to promote Scottish heritage and culture through the appreciation of fine whisky. The Society holds an annual festival and conference sponsored and organised by Anita Di Sotto, owner of La Maison D’Ecosse.

The Monte Carlo Whisky Society, La Maison D’Ecosse and the Glenrothes advocate responsible drinking and suggest that drinkers savour whisky in moderation and in line with recommended daily guidelines for alcohol consumption.
