One Small Town in Europe You MUST Visit

Počitelj, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Located in the hills of scenic Bosnia & Herzegovina lies this magical little town you can enjoy almost all to yourself!

My name is Marina, and I come from a little magic town from Bosnia & Herzegovina. The reason I am sharing this article is that I want for people to see that our country has treasures as well, for those tired of the same European destinations and willing to try something new, I invite you in my town.

The historic urban site of Počitelj is located on the left bank of the river Neretva, on the main Mostar to Metković road, to the south of Mostar, in the territory of Čapljina Municipality.

The walled town of Počitelj evolved over the period from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries. Architecturally, the surviving stone-built parts of the town are a fortified complex, in which two stages of evolution may be observed: mediaeval, and Ottoman.

Things to see in medieval Pocitelj include exploring the ruins of the fortress and its walls, the Sisman Ibrahim Pasa mosque, the clock tower, and strolling the quaint cobblestone streets. Also take the time to admire the unique architecture of the local houses, which blends Asian and Mediterranean elements, common in classic Turkish architecture. The views of the Neretva River below are stunning.

I hope this small description has increased your curiosity at least do your Internet research and come down and visit us.

If you do have any question, I am happy to answer them.
